KOBWA — the Komati Basin Water Authority — is a binational institution established under an agreement between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of South Africa to jointly manage the Komati River Basin. It operates in Eswatini with a primary focus on implementing water infrastructure and sustainable resource management initiatives, particularly Phase 1 of the Komati River Basin development. Its work directly supports water security and agricultural productivity in eastern Eswatini, including areas bordering the Komati River. KOBWA functions as a statutory authority with responsibilities spanning both countries but maintains operational presence and project implementation within Eswatini.
