The Incomati & Maputo Watercourse Commission (INMACOM) is a transboundary water management institution established under the 2002 Incomati and Maputo Watercourse Agreements, with Eswatini as a full member state. It operates in Eswatini through its national focal point—typically housed within the Eswatini Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy—and coordinates joint monitoring, data sharing, and cooperative planning for the Incomati and Maputo river basins. INMACOM’s work directly supports water security in Eswatini’s eastern lowveld, including areas near Nhlangano and the Usutu–Maputo corridor. The commission facilitates collaborative infrastructure planning and drought response involving Eswatini, Mozambique, and South Africa, with technical support from the SADC Water Sector Coordinating Unit.
