Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do I need to become a Business Development & Sales Executive at a private tutoring group in Eswatini?
Most employers look for a diploma or degree in business, marketing, sales, or education-related fields, though strong sales experience can sometimes substitute for formal qualifications. A valid driver's licence is often an advantage since the role involves visiting schools and clients. Familiarity with Eswatini's education landscape, such as knowing local primary and secondary schools, is a plus.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of this role?
You would identify and approach parents and schools to sell tutoring packages, follow up on leads, and convert enquiries into enrolments. The role also involves building relationships with school administrators, preparing sales reports, meeting targets, and representing the company at events like career fairs or open days. Some administrative work, such as updating CRM records and drafting proposals, is usually expected.
How do employers in Eswatini typically structure working hours and expectations for sales roles?
Sales roles in Eswatini often require flexibility beyond standard office hours, including some evenings or weekends when parents are available. Employers generally expect self-driven individuals who can travel locally, especially around Mbabane, Manzini, and other regional hubs. Punctuality, professionalism, and consistent communication are highly valued in the local work culture.
What benefits can I expect in a role like this in Eswatini?
Common benefits include paid annual leave, sick leave as per the Employment Act, and sometimes contributions to a pension fund or medical aid scheme. Some employers offer performance-based incentives or commissions tied to sales targets. Benefits vary by employer, so it is best to ask about the full package during the interview.
What career growth paths are available from a Business Development & Sales Executive position?
Strong performers can progress to senior sales executive, sales team leader, branch manager, or regional business development manager roles. In the education sector, experience in client relationships and revenue growth can also lead to marketing management or operations positions. Demonstrating consistent target achievement is the most reliable route to promotion.
How should I apply, and what do employers in Eswatini look for in candidates?
Applications are usually submitted via email or through job portals, with a CV and cover letter tailored to the role; check the job advert for specific instructions. Employers value clear communication skills, a track record of meeting targets, confidence in face-to-face selling, and knowledge of the local market. Be prepared for interviews that may include role-play scenarios or questions about how you would win new clients.
