Key Responsibilities
- To encourage and evaluate teachers and provide support to them in terms of infusing the subject to the subject by providing patterns of the garments in terms of syllabus coverage.
- To ensure that schools have a suitable Consumer Science Laboratory, equipment, books and technical aids.
- To provide advice to authority on establishing new laboratories when introducing the subject.
- To regularly check the requisition and expenditure book for the subject.
- To monitor the school’s financial performance and ensures that the budget is spent appropriately.
- To participate in Statutory National Consumer Science Panel, departmental meeting and activities regularly.
- To conduct elections of the regional subject association and also act as an ex-officio member of the association executive committee.
- To advise the Senior Inspector on Consumer Science subject and programme matters at regional level.
- To assess. Teaching Practice (TP) for tertiary student teachers and provide both verbal and written feedback t the teachers and colleges.
- To participate in developing teaching and learning materials, and use of effective contemporary teaching tools for Consumer Science at both primary and secondary public schools with National Curriculum Centre (NCC).
- To participate in the Examinations Council, Eswatini (ECESWA) setting, vetting moderation, marking and selection of subject moderators for external examinations and has some oversight role in the quality control and assurance of the subject examination.
- To conduct training on school-based assessment before projects are submitted to Examinations Council of Eswatini.
- To implement interventions for marketing and improving the subject and programmes such as registering new schools to include Consumer Science.
- To offer advice to the Senior Inspector Secondary on the provision of the adequate staffing of teachers for secondary schools and on teachers’ profession misconduct based on inspection findings.
- To encourage the development of Consumer Science subject and programme association.
- To offer guidance and support to Pastoral Schools assigned to him/her as Pastoral Inspector.
- To facilitate formation of Consumer Science subject and programme Area Clusters to ensure effectiveness in capacity building of teachers for improved secondary school results.
- To participate in professional conferences and seminars for continued lifelong learning.
- To undertake educational studies and research for professional development and to be a beast with educational trends in Consumer Science.
- To perform any other official duties that may be assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Head of Department.
