Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured engagements (workshops, interviews, document reviews) with operational divisions to identify strategic, compliance, and performance challenges requiring analytics, BI, or automated decision support
  • Analyse existing processes, policies, performance reports, and system outputs to identify decision bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risk areas suitable for advanced analytics or risk-based automation
  • Translate business questions into clearly scoped analytics and BI problem statements, defining objectives, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, and intended decisions
  • Define business logic, success measures, and operational outcomes required to guide data engineering, analytics modelling, and BI development
  • Develop structured analytics and BI use cases outlining business context, expected value, success measures, operational impact, and system integration considerations
  • Engage Data Platform & Integration Specialist to confirm platform constraints, integration feasibility, access controls, and governance requirements for proposed use cases
  • Prioritise use cases in collaboration with the Director: Data & Analytics, considering value, feasibility, data readiness, and implementation complexity
  • Ensure alignment with ERS strategic objectives, compliance mandates, operational priorities, and ERS Data Strategy.
  • Work with Data Scientist to define and validate analytical intent, modelling objectives, assumptions, risk indicators, and success criteria before and during model development
  • Collaborate with BI Analyst to translate analytical and risk outputs into decision-focused dashboards, reports, and performance views
  • Engage Data Engineer to confirm data definitions, transformations, and data quality requirements necessary to support analytics and BI use cases
  • Work with Data Platform & Integration Specialist to ensure analytics and risk-engine outputs can be operationalised within approved platforms, integrated with source and downstream systems, and aligned with access, security, and governance controls
  • Validate analytical logic, model outputs, and BI products against business context, operational constraints, and policy requirements prior to deployment
  • Embed business rules, policy intent, and operational context into analytics and AI products, including the risk engine, ensuring risk scores, thresholds, and outputs are explainable, actionable, and operationally usable
  • Act as the primary business validator of analytics outputs before operational adoption
  • Design KPIs, thresholds, and targets informed by analytics, trends, and policy objectives
  • Define decision rules and escalation logic translating analytics into operational actions
  • Support integration of analytics outputs into planning, audit, compliance, and debt management workflows
  • Ensure performance frameworks are measurable, auditable, and governance-compliant
  • Monitor BI outputs over time to ensure ongoing accuracy, relevance, and alignment with business needs
  • Translate business policies, operational practices, and compliance strategies into decision rules, thresholds, and logic used within analytics products such as risk engines, prioritisation models, and intervention frameworks.
  • Act as liaison between business units and Data & Analytics specialists
  • Facilitate structured interpretation sessions to explain analytical results, limitations, and implications
  • Support preparation of analytics outputs for Management
  • Periodically review implemented use cases for effectiveness and relevance
  • Identify opportunities to refine KPIs, assumptions, and decision logic
  • Contribute business insight to ERS Data Strategy and analytics governance initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Operations Research, Public Policy, or a related discipline
  • Strong background in performance management, strategic analysis, business process analysis, and data analysis and reporting.
  • Advantageous: Postgraduate qualification in Business Analytics, Economics, Strategy, or Public Administration
  • Exposure to analytics-enabled, compliance, or regulatory environments
  • Project management experience or exposure
  • Minimum: At least two (2) years’ experience in business analysis, strategy, planning, performance management, or analytics-enabled decision support
  • Proven experience translating business problems into analytical or reporting requirements
  • Experience defining KPIs, performance frameworks, and decision-support metrics
