Jhpiego provides technical support to Ministries of Health across the globe in areas including HIV/AIDS, maternal and newborn health, family planning, health workforce development, cervical cancer prevention, malaria, and IPC/WASH.

In Eswatini, Jhpiego is implementing the Reaching Impact Saturation and Epidemic Control (RISE) project. RISE is a multi-country project funded by the U.S. Government to save lives and improve health through integrated, evidence-based approaches to address urgent gaps in lifesaving services. RISE works across all levels of the health system to strengthen the HIV/TB epidemic response, to limit the spread of deadly disease outbreaks through Global Health Security (GHS) programming, and to reduce preventable morbidity and mortality through integrated maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), nutrition, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria services. Since 2019, RISE has supported programs in more than 25 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Transport Manager to implement measures that safeguard Jhpiego vehicles and equipment, ensuring efficiency and reducing the risk of theft or damage.
  • Receive, review, and respond to all vehicle and transport requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all trip regardless of distance are properly logged using vehicle logbooks provided in each vehicle.
  • Maintain organized records of all vehicle logbooks in coordination with the Transport Manager and Procurement Officer for audit purposes.
  • Ensure that all Jhpiego vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and regularly inspected.
  • Utilize vehicle management tools such as checklists and log sheets to track vehicle usage, driver behaviour, and maintenance needs.
  • Adhere to and enforce Jhpiego’s Vehicle Usage and Maintenance Manual policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with travel planning protocols, ensuring all required forms are completed before travel.
  • Maintain an up-to-date file of all internal vehicle request forms for easy reference and accountability.
  • Responsible for using all vehicle management tools like log sheet, vehicle checklist to monitor the usage, behaviour and maintenance of vehicle.
  • Ensure that all travel planning procedures are followed by staff traveling in JHPIEGO vehicles and that all the relevant forms are completed.
  • Maintain a file for all internal vehicle request forms.
  • Be involved in the proper diagnosis of vehicle faults and recommend repairs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that procurement procedures /documentation are completed before vehicles are released for repairs by workshops.
  • Constantly Monitor and provide feedback on the quality of service of outside garages used by JHPIEGO.
  • Drive JHPIEGO vehicles when requested.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • High school certificate or other relevant educational background combined with relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in similar position in an INGO sector
  • Driver’s license is essential, an advanced driving licence is preferrable
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Defensive driving experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in use of computer and vehicle software
  • Ability to travel at least 75% of work time.
  • Fluency in English is required
