This critical role is responsible for the overall management of our commercial farming of avocados among other agricultural products, maintaining product quality, profitability, and strict compliance with international export standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall management of the farm, including annual production planning and budgeting.
  • Manage tree establishment, new orchard development, and rejuvenation programs.
  • Implement irrigation scheduling, water management, fertilizer programs, and soil health strategies.
  • Monitor and control pests and diseases through integrated pest management (IPM).
  • Conduct crop estimation, yield forecasting, and harvest planning and coordination.
  • Implement canopy management and pruning programs to maintain optimal tree health and productivity.
  • Manage daily packhouse operations, ensuring grading and packing meet stringent export specifications.
  • Oversee quality assurance, food safety compliance, and cold chain management.
  • Control stock and packaging materials and ensure maintenance of all packhouse equipment.
  • Maintain and manage Global G.A.P. Certification, ensuring compliance with traceability and audit requirements.
  • Prepare for and host internal and external audits, maintaining accurate production records and documentation.
  • Coordinate exports to South Africa, the European Union, and other international markets.
  • Liaise with exporters, freight forwarders, and shipping agents to ensure seamless logistics.
  • Ensure all export documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Manage transport logistics from orchard to market, ensuring fruit quality is preserved throughout the supply chain.
