About the Company
The Incomati and Maputo Water Commission (INMACOM) is a transboundary river basin organisation that manages shared water resources across the Incomati and Maputo basins. It was established through cooperation between the Kingdom of Eswatini, the Republic of Mozambique, and the Republic of South Africa, building on earlier joint water management arrangements in the region. INMACOM works from within Eswatini alongside its partner states to promote equitable and sustainable use of the shared rivers, supporting data exchange, joint planning, and basin-wide development initiatives. Its work is directly relevant to communities, farmers, and industries in Eswatini that depend on these cross-border watercourses. The organisation plays a key role in advancing regional water security and cooperative governance of transboundary waters.

Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or certifications are typically required for the ICT & Systems Graduate-In-Training role in Eswatini?
Applicants usually need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related ICT field from a recognised institution, including those accredited by the Swaziland Qualifications Authority (SQA). Relevant short courses—such as CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Fundamentals—are valued, especially if aligned with INMACOM’s systems infrastructure. Prior internship experience within Eswatini’s public sector or regional water institutions is considered advantageous but not mandatory.
What does a typical day look like for an ICT & Systems Graduate-In-Training at a regional commission like INMACOM?
Daily tasks often include supporting network operations, assisting with user helpdesk requests, documenting system configurations, and participating in data backup and security checks under supervision. You’ll likely collaborate with cross-border technical teams using tools common in Southern African development agencies, such as MS 365, open-source GIS platforms, and basic database management systems. Attendance at brief daily stand-ups and quarterly interdepartmental coordination meetings is standard practice in Eswatini-based regional offices.
How does workplace culture in Eswatini influence expectations for graduate trainees in ICT roles?
Respect for hierarchy and formal communication—especially when interacting with senior engineers or regional stakeholders—is expected, reflecting broader Eswatini professional norms. Punctuality, dress code adherence (business-casual unless specified), and willingness to support non-technical colleagues are routinely observed, particularly in public-sector-aligned institutions like INMACOM. Teamwork is emphasised, and trainees are often encouraged to seek mentorship proactively through established internal channels.
What realistic career progression can I expect after completing the Graduate-In-Training programme in ICT within Eswatini’s regional institutions?
Successful graduates commonly transition into permanent roles such as ICT Officer or Systems Support Assistant within INMACOM or partner agencies like the Eswatini Water Services Corporation. Further growth may lead to specialisation in areas like cybersecurity, GIS integration, or digital project coordination—often supported by employer-sponsored study leave for postgraduate diplomas accredited locally or regionally. Long-term advancement frequently depends on demonstrated performance, regional collaboration experience, and alignment with SADC ICT capacity-building priorities.
What benefits—like leave, medical aid, or pension—are typically offered to full-time ICT Graduate-In-Trainees in Eswatini?
Full-time trainees generally receive statutory benefits including 21 days of annual leave, sick leave per the Employment Act, and enrolment in the National Pension Scheme (NPS) administered by the Swaziland Pension Fund. Medical aid is commonly provided through group schemes such as SwaziCare or similar private providers, though coverage levels vary by employer policy and contract terms. Maternity/paternity leave follows national legislation, and some regional commissions offer additional allowances for professional development or relocation where applicable.
How should I apply for this role, and what do employers in Eswatini specifically look for in ICT graduate applicants?
Applications must be submitted via INMACOM’s official portal or email address stated in the vacancy notice, accompanied by certified academic transcripts, ID copy, and a concise CV highlighting relevant coursework or projects. Employers prioritise clear written English, evidence of hands-on technical exposure (e.g., university lab work, hackathons, or local NGO IT support), and understanding of Eswatini’s digital transformation goals outlined in Vision 2022 and the National ICT Policy. Demonstrated familiarity with regional water governance or cross-border data sharing principles is a distinct advantage.
