Key Responsibilities
- To prepare, execute, facilitate and monitor classroom, workshop, laboratory work, practical exercises, lesson plans and training office activities corresponding to the requirements of the syllabus.
- To prepare a course outline, conducts a research, plans for the lesson and present the lesson.
- To set questions and process for candidate’s intake.
- To design and construct assessment tool. To develop marking guide, moderate, invigorate internal and external assessment, marks and record learners’ work.
- To examine at regular intervals, the condition of teaching facilities and if necessary, initiate required repairs.
- To monitor practical work, materials/equipment inventory and requisitions for replenishment as/when necessary.
- To maintain learners’ performance records.
- To plan, organise and supervise learners ‘Industrial/educational tours.
- To counsel learners on their progress, and where appropriate, assign and supervise remedial work.
- To participate in designing and developing specialised courses.
- To participate in the development of college syllabi, writing objectives, analysing available information, developing content, methods of teaching and means of evaluation.
- To solve disciplinary problems and initiates remedial action.
- To participate in the evaluation of training programmes.
- To participate in the scheduled exercises for trade testing of artisans employed by the public and private sector.
- To supervise and asses learners on industrial attachment and teaching practice.
- To conduct research by identifying the problem area, developing research proposal, collecting and analysing data, writing research report and disseminating information.
- To supervise learners’ academic projects including departmental projects.
- To perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have sat and acquired an O’Level/ IGCSE Certificate or equivalent Certificate.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering focusing on Internal Combustion Engineering from a recognized and accredited Institution is a requirement.
- A Vocational Instructor Diploma or any relevant Education Certificate i.e. PGCE from a recognized and accredited Institution is a requirement.
- A Master’s Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized and accredited Institution will be an added advantage.
- Diploma in Automotive engineering or vehicle Technician from a recognized and accredited Institution will be an added advantage.
- Evidence of Grade 1 Test in Automotive or Auto – Electronics and Motor Vehicle Repair will be an added advantage.
- Evidence of 2-5 years apprenticeship experience or relevant experience will also be an added advantage.
- Affiliation to a relevant professional body will be an added advantage
- Passionate about teaching and Computer Literate.
