Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely legal opinions and advice to Management and departments on operational, commercial, employment, procurement and regulatory matters.
- Interpret legislation, regulations, policies and contracts affecting NAMBoard’s operations, and monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda on emerging legal issues.
- Draft, review, negotiate and vet contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, service-level agreements, leases and other legal instruments.
- Maintain the contracts register and legal repository, monitor contractual compliance and advise on contractual disputes.
- Manage litigation involving NAMBoard, liaise with external legal practitioners and coordinate pleadings, witness statements and supporting documentation.
- Represent NAMBoard before courts, tribunals, regulatory bodies and dispute-resolution forums where authorised.
- Support compliance with the NAMBoard Act, regulations and other applicable legislation, including inspections, investigations and enforcement actions requiring legal guidance.
- Provide legal support on corporate-governance matters, including Board and Committee submissions, reports and statutory obligations.
- Identify legal and regulatory risks, recommend mitigation measures, maintain the legal-risk register and promote compliance awareness across the organisation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the corporate sector.
- Demonstrated experience in contract drafting and review, litigation management, corporate governance, labour law and regulatory compliance.
- Sound knowledge of applicable legislation, legal research, contract management, litigation and compliance practices.
- Strong communication, legal-writing, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, conflict-resolution and interpersonal skills.
- High standards of ethics, honesty, integrity, attention to detail and service orientation.
- Willingness to work additional hours when necessary.
