A recognised secretarial or PA qualification is an added advantage. Prior experience supporting senior executives is often preferred.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of a PA to a General Manager at a mining company?
You would manage the GM's diary, schedule meetings, handle correspondence, prepare reports and presentations, and coordinate travel arrangements. In a mining environment, you may also liaise with department heads, support safety meeting logistics, and handle confidential documentation. Discretion and strong organisational skills are essential.
What work culture and expectations should I be aware of in Eswatini?
Workplaces in Eswatini tend to value respect for hierarchy, punctuality, and professional courtesy, so addressing senior managers formally is important. Confidentiality and reliability are highly regarded, especially when supporting an executive. Building good relationships with colleagues across departments is also expected.
What career growth can I expect as a Personal Assistant?
Experienced PAs can progress to roles such as Executive Assistant, Office Manager, or Administration Manager. Some move into HR, operations, or project coordination roles within the same organisation. Gaining additional qualifications in business or management can accelerate this progression.
What benefits are typically offered to PAs in Eswatini?
Common benefits include annual leave, sick leave, and contributions to a pension or provident fund as required by Eswatini labour law. Many employers, particularly in mining, also offer medical aid schemes. Specific packages vary by employer and level of experience.
How should I apply, and what do employers in Eswatini look for?
Prepare a clear CV highlighting your administrative experience, computer skills, and any executive support roles, and follow the application instructions in the job advert exactly. Employers look for professionalism, discretion, strong communication skills, and attention to detail. A well-written cover letter tailored to the role can help you stand out.
