Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine quality, hygiene, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), food-safety and operational inspections at packhouses, warehouses, intake, dispatch and other relevant areas.
- Monitor compliance with quality procedures, food-safety controls, traceability requirements, product specifications and applicable SHEQ standards.
- Support internal audits, supplier or farmer verification activities, customer-audit preparation and the closure of audit findings.
- Maintain accurate quality-assurance records, including inspection sheets, test results, calibration records, nonconformance reports and corrective-action trackers.
- Conduct product-quality and intake inspections, verify produce grading and packaging, and support product-disposition recommendations.
- Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, recall-readiness activities and customer-complaint investigations.
- Follow up nonconformities and corrective and preventive actions, and escalate unresolved or high-risk quality and food-safety matters.
- Compile routine quality-assurance reports, trend analyses and action recommendations for the SHEQ Manager and operational teams.
- Coach employees on hygiene, GMP, record completion, quality requirements and the escalation of food-safety or product-quality concerns.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Quality Management, Food Safety, Food Science or a related field.
- At least one (1) year experience in quality assurance, food safety, agriculture, FMCG, a packhouse, fresh produce, warehousing or a related operational environment.
- Knowledge of GMP, hygiene controls, food-safety systems, traceability, nonconformance management, corrective actions and document control.
- Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office, with the ability to compile reports, maintain registers and analyse basic quality data.
- High attention to detail, integrity and accuracy in recordkeeping.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow actions through to closure and perform effectively under pressure in an operational environment.
