WELDER / FABRICATOR

Most employers look for a trade certificate or N3/N4 qualification from an institution such as Eswatini College of Technology (ECOT) or a recognised vocational training centre. A valid welding certification (e.g. coded welding or arc/MIG/TIG competency) is highly valued, and some employers require a medical fitness certificate for working at heights or in confined spaces.

Daily tasks usually include reading engineering drawings, cutting and shaping metal, welding components to specification, grinding and finishing joints, and inspecting work for defects. You may also be expected to maintain welding equipment, follow safety procedures strictly, and assist with general fabrication and workshop duties.

Workplaces in Eswatini tend to be hierarchical but respectful, with strong emphasis on punctuality, discipline, and following safety rules on the factory floor. Teamwork is important, and employers generally value reliability, willingness to learn, and adherence to instructions from supervisors.
