Key Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process cash, card and other approved customer payments.
- Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
- Maintain accurate cash records and reconcile the till at the end of each shift.
- Safeguard company cash and ensure that all money-handling procedures are strictly followed.
- Assist customers in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
- Handle returns, exchanges and other cashier-related customer queries in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain a clean and organised cashiering area.
- Assist with stock-related duties where required.
- Report any discrepancies, suspicious transactions or operational concerns to management promptly.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum Form 5 / Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- At least 2 years’ proven experience as a Cashier, preferably in a hardware store, retail shop, supermarket or similar environment.
- Previous experience handling significant amounts of cash will be an added advantage.
- Good numeracy and basic computer/POS skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy retail environment.
- Good money-management and record-keeping skills.
- Honest, trustworthy, reliable and hardworking.
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and accountability.
- No criminal record.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays where required.
