Role Purpose:
To fill the vacant position in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Applications are invited from qualified permanently appointed employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • To promote, create, maintain a conducive environment for labour protection, employment, social protection and social dialogue in order to foster economic growth and social justice.
  • To promote harmonious industrial relations in the work environment.
  • To promote social dialogue by involving the major players who are Employers and Workers.
  • To recommend to authorities of Labour Policy aimed at sound Industrial Relations.
  • To implement policy matters that have been approved or directed by Eswatini Government.
  • To attend meetings and conferences of the International Labour Organization, African Union, Labour and Social Affairs Commission and any other relevant international, regional and sub-regional organization’s conferences, control, plan, direct and organize activities of the Department.
  • To deputize as Chairperson of the Labour Advisory Board
  • To deputize as Chairperson of the Wages Advisory Board
  • To secure professional contracts for professional service for the Department.
  • To draft Cabinet Papers on behalf of the Department.
  • To advise the Head of Department on the Labour Legislation.
  • To be prime spokesperson for the department
  • To undertake any other duties assigned by the Commissioner of Labour or such other authorities recognized in the Eswatini society.
  • To action claim vouchers and liaise with Accounts Section.
  • To peruse journals, incoming mail and any other publications and direst for auctioning to relevant Officers.
  • To be Chief Conciliator/Facilitator in major Industrial disputes
  • To prepare reports and statistics on employment as may be required by the Hon. Minister.
  • To advise the Public on matters of employment.
  • To follow up on delayed long and short term plans
  • To provide information and advice to Social Partners on the application of any law relating to employment.
  • To coordinate issues undertaken by other Government Ministries and non-governmental organizations on matters incidental to employment
  • To seek assistance and liaise with International Agencies on Technical Assistance required.

Requirements

  • Must have done and obtained O’Level/IGCSE/SGCSE/EGCSE or equivalent certificate
  • Must have done and acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Public Administration or Sociology or Political Science or Industrial Psychology or Law degree from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • An LLB qualification will be an added advantage
  • A Master’s Degree in any of the above fields will also be an added advantage
  • Relevant experience will be an added advantage
  • Computer literacy
  • Upright character and high level of integrity

Salary

Grade F1: E 752, 102.00 rising to E 814, 100.00 per annum
